Pro Radii
The project embraces the limitations of early AI video tools as a creative medium. Glitches, temporal tearing, incoherent physics and visual artifacts are treated as core compositional elements rather than errors. These machine-produced distortions mirror the fractured, mechanical rhythm of “Pro Radii,” creating a dialogue between sound and image.
Visually, the work is grounded in the texture of obsolete broadcast technology. The entire piece is presented through a simulated CRT screen aesthetic, evoking the feeling of a corrupted archived transmission. The result is a hypnotic, unstable vision of sport as filtered through both artificial memory and decaying media.
This project is an experimental music video for Autechre’s “Pro Radii” constructed entirely from early-generation AI video outputs. The work explores the aesthetic and conceptual potential of machine hallucination, using primitive generative algorithms to abstract the visual language of a sports broadcast into a fragmented, surreal montage.
The visuals simulate a distorted sports event that never truly existed: crowds, fields, bodies, cameras and overlays appear and dissolve through unstable, dream-like transformations. Rather than depicting a coherent event, the video mirrors how artificial systems “imagine” physical movement, competition and spectacle, turning familiar broadcast symbology into fluid, alien structures.
At its core, the project is a study of abstraction, perception and technological mediation: not a representation of a real event, but the hallucinated residue of collective imagery as reimagined by early machine vision.
